We're building the next generation of
testing and automation machines.

Strabathie is developing intelligent, modular equipment for mechanical testing and industrial automation. Our first platform, OpenTensile, is the starting point for a wider range of engineering systems built around adaptable hardware and software.

EngineeringPals Ltd is now Strabathie Technologies Ltd.

Founded in February 2025, Strabathie set out to challenge conventional approaches to machine design, making sophisticated engineering equipment more adaptable, accessible and easier to use.

Strabathie founders James and Danijela Davidson

We believe manufacturers should be able to test materials and components closer to where they're designed and made, without always relying on specialist laboratories. With OpenTensile, we aim to make that more practical and accessible. We're planning industrial pilot trials and aim to begin commercialisation in 2027.

The more we understand materials, the more we can achieve with them.

We founded Strabathie to make that understanding more accessible for everyone.

Knowing how a material will stretch, bend or break can change how a product is designed, manufactured and improved. Our experience in materials research and industrial engineering gave us access to equipment and knowledge that most people never encounter.

We want to make that capability more widely available. Through modular testing machines and intelligent software, we're developing ways for people to measure material properties, understand the results and apply that knowledge to their own ideas and products.

OpenTensile is our first modular mechanical testing platform, designed to help engineers, designers and manufacturers test their own materials and components.

10 kN Testing Capacity

Our first system is being developed with a nominal 10 kN capacity, targeting applications including plastics, short-fibre-reinforced polymers, injection-moulded and extruded components, 3D-printed parts and composite specimens.

Fixtures Included.

Every OpenTensile pilot system will include fixtures for tensile, compression, three-point bend and yarn testing. Interchangeable fixtures and load cells allow the platform to be configured for different materials and testing requirements. We'll also support customers who want to develop custom fixtures for their own applications.

AI-Assisted Testing

We're developing AI-assisted software to help users select appropriate test methods, configure their equipment and interpret results. Our aim is to make it possible for more people to carry out material testing independently, without requiring extensive specialist knowledge.

Intelligent Modularity

We're developing new technology to make OpenTensile easier to configure, adapt and expand. This intelligent modular architecture is also intended to provide the foundation for future testing and industrial automation systems.

From 2027, we're looking to welcome our first 10 customers to the OpenTensile pilot programme. Through an affordable rental-to-ownership arrangement, you'll get your own OpenTensile system without a significant upfront investment or restrictive long-term contract. You'll also have direct access to our engineering team, who can help you get the most out of OpenTensile and explore custom solutions for your specific needs. After the initial commitment, you'll have the flexibility to continue towards ownership or return the system.
